In the digital age, the team at Contact Lenses Australia Now realizes that computer users wish to know whether contact lenses are safe. Do they portect from UV? Will the long-term strain damage your eye? Today we discuss this topic.

Computer users often wonder if it is safe for them to switch from traditional eye glass to contact lenses. Whether you use a computer a lot or not at all, you may be afraid of all the trouble you have heard contact lenses can cause. If you already wear contacts and are a heavy computer user you may be concerned about health risks. The best way to answer to these questions is to consult with your eyecare professional. Eye doctors will prescribe the lenses that are best suited for all of your needs including computer needs.

Computer Vision Syndrome results from too many hours on the computer. This condition will lead to dry eye. Eye dryness can be caused by several factors. Computer users do not produce as many tears as most people and sometimes due to the chemical makeup of their tears, they don’t produce enough. As we get older our tear production decreases. Our environment can contribute to dry eyes also. For instance, if you are in a room with poor ventilation or too much heat or air or even smoke, eyes will become dry. Blinking is one of the most important factors in keeping eyes moist and when someone is using a computer they tend to blink less than normal.

Even though soft contact lenses are made from polymers and water and they feel comfortable in your eye, the water evaporates from the lens overtime. The lens will then absorb your tears which makes your eyes dry feeling. The more water a lens holds, the more it is likely to lose its moisture.

There are many symptoms for dry eye. You may feel like you have a foreign object in your eye. Redness, itching, and soreness can also develop. You may even have an excessive amount of tearing. Contact lenses that are especially made for computer use are made of special materials. Soft contact lenses are made from hydrophillic plastics.
These soft lenses contain water. Rigid Gas Permeable lenses or RGP lenses are made
from polymeric materials and do not contain any water. Most doctors recommend their patients wear RGP lenses for computer use. Since they do not contain water, the water will not evaporate from the surface of the lens.

Computers users need to learn the proper care of their contact lenses. Remember to handle one lens at a time. Teach yourself to always start with the same lens, whether it be right or left. You should also take care of the lens case itself. Doctors recommend you wash the lens case with unperfumed soap at least every two months. Do not use the same solution twice for cleaning your lenses and never use cleaner after the expiration date has expired. It is wise to keep a pair of regular glasses handy in case you should catch a cold to prevent germs from getting into your eyes.

Thank you for joining the team at Contact Lenses Australia Now for this discussion! Please examine the remainder of posts we provide to cover any of your questions regarding wearing contact lenses. Otherwise, look forward to postings of deals for contact lens delivery to Australia and other topics relevant to contact lens wearers!

Hello and welcome back to Contact Lenses Australia Now, your resource for discussions on all aspects of contact lens ownership, as well as your source for deals on purchasing contact lenses in Australia.

Contact lenses can be a great way to add to your beauty and popularity. People who wear contacts need to also be aware of safety factors.

It is important to know that the FDA has recently approved the day and night contact lenses. They are a very convenient way to wear contacts. You can safely sleep with these lenses in your eyes for up to 30 days without worry of complications. Focus lenses are not only convenient and practical, they can also add to your popularity. Many people are purchasing these lenses because they are so comfortable to wear and they can rely on the safety of them.

Focus Lenses have been proven completely safe to use. They provide up to six times more oxygen than the regular contact lens. They even help reduce dryness and eye discomfort that so many people experience after wearing contacts for a whole day. Focus lenses are guaranteed to be problem free if you use them for thirty days. This guarantee can greatly benefit the purchaser of this lens because it covers both cosmetic and clinical uses.

Many people choose Focus over other brands because of the health benefits associated with them and the effectiveness of these lenses. Optometrists approve and recommend these lenses to their patients because of the health and safety benefits and the effectivemess of them in correcting vision problems.

Focus lenses have received very favorable reviews from people who wear them and from optometrists. They are very affordable and safe. Focus Lenses do not seem to produce allegories to the eyes and this has greatly added to their popularity.

One of the biggest reasons, people purchase contact lenses is to add the beauty of their eyes. Some people buy them strictly for cosmetic reasons. Focus lenses will certainly make your looks more attractaive. These high quality lenses will also correct your vision problems and are comfortable and safe.

Please remember that these lenses must be disposed of after wearing for thirty days. If you continue to wear them after thirty days, you could risk eye infections and irritations. Dispose of them properly and replace with a new pair. Like all contact lenses, you need to follow the advise of your eyecare provider. Remember your eyecare specialist can always give the best advise as to whether these lenses are right for you.

We at Contact Lenses Australia Now appreciate your readership and hope you find everything quite instructive. If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions please leave them on the post or suggest them to me at admin@contactlensesaustralianow.com. Thanks!

Hello and welcome back to Contact Lenses Australia Now. We hope to discuss with you today the importance of having a healthy wearing schedule on your contacts.

Wearing schedules vary from one type of lens to another. The schedule also depends on the eye correction you are wearing them for. Never wear any lens longer than your eyecare professional recommends. Most problems related to contact lenses arise from wearing the lenses for too long of periods of time.

The “daily wear” schedule is the most common one. The lenses are applied in the morning and then taken out before going to bed. The lenses are cleaned and disinfected before reapplying them in the morning.

There are some lenses that do not have to be taken out when the patient goes to bed. These “extended wear” lenses are made of newer materials and it is safe to sleep with the contacts in your eyes either occasionally or for a period of time up to 30 days. Because of the special construction of these lenses, large amounts of oxygen are able to pass through the lens which allows the eye to receive enough oxygen.

Not everyone will be able to wear the new soft lenses. Certain conditions of the eye could make it impossible for some people to wear this type of lens. A consultation with your eyecare professional is the only safe way to determine whether this type of lens is right for you.

Never sleep with your contact lenses in your eyes unless your optometrist has clearly stated that is safe to do so. The all important oxygen supply to your eye could be cut off if your lenses are not especially made for sleeping . This could result in permanent and severe eye damage.
Thanks for joining us here at Contact Lenses Australia Now for our discussion of wearing schedules for you contact lenses. We really hope you join us for our other narratives on the topics of wearing contact lenses and purchasing them in Australia. As usual if you have anyt sort of suggestion for our topics please leave them in the comments or email us at admin@contactlensesaustralianow.com.

Hello and welcome back to Contact Lenses Australia Now, where we would like to both ingrain into contact lenses users the importance of good maintenance as well as provide good deals for contact lenses. Today, the topic is contact lens replacement, and how frequently you should do it.

Good Eye health is very important and to make sure we maintain healthy eyes, it is very important to know how often to change your contact lenses. Just like regular eyeglasses, contact lenses will need changing over-time for a number of reasons. There are several types of contact lenses and each lens will differ in the amount of wear time. For this reason you should always consult with an eyecare specialist before you purchase contact lenses. These professionals can help determine which type of lens will best meet your eyecare needs.

Generally speaking, hard, or rigid contact lenses can be worn for a year or two unless an eye exam indicates a change in prescription is needed. Replacement of soft lenses is needed on a yearly basis regardless of the outcome of your eye exam. Though the soft lenses are more comfortable than the rigid lenses they are more costly due to the need to replace them once a year.

Soft lenses that are “disposable” need to be changed every two to four weeks. The initial cost of the disposable lenses is less than the soft or rigid lenses but they do require very frequent replacement. Most soft lenses are “disposable” lenses and need to be replaced at regular intervals to prevent any deposit build up that can occur. The newer soft, “disposable” lens is made of material that is not suitable for long-term wear. Even though these new lenses will provide good vision and proper eye function, they will wear out quite quickly. Some people prefer the disposable ones because they can be purchased with different tints allowing them to change the appearance of their eye color.

Thanks for joining us here at Contact Lenses Australia Now for today’s discussion on the health aspects of contact lens replacement. Please join us for future discussion!

Hello and welcome back to Contact Lenses Australia Now. Today we would like to discuss a topic you should understand before purchasing your contacts whether online or off: what type of contact lens to get.

There are two basic types of contact lenses. The rigid lens and the soft lens. Your lifestyle and type of eye correction you need will help determine which lens is right for you.

The most popular type of lens is the soft contact lens. The soft contact lens is made from a type of plastic called hydrogels which are very soft and flexible and contain water. The cornea, which is the clear front surface of the eye needs a direct supply of oxygen and the water supplies the needed oxygen by allowing the oxygen to pass through the lens to the eye.

There are several advantages to soft contact lenses. Because they are soft, they are easier to get use to and are more comfortable than the rigid type of lens. They are great for people who do not need to wear their lenses on a daily basis. People who are active in sports like them because they tend to stay in place much better than the rigid lenses.
Besides being comfortable, may soft lens wearers have them tinted to either bring out the natural color of their eyes or change the color of them.

Soft lenses can be used to correct some refractive problems but special “toric” lenses can be used by people who have astigmatism.

Rigid Lenses are also made of a plastic material, but are not as soft and flexible as the soft lens which can make the rigid lens harder to get use to. It generally takes a week or more to feel comfortable with the rigid lens, but once you get use to them, you will forget you are wearing contact lenses. The rigid lens can correct more refractive problems than the soft lens. For some eye disorders such as Keratoconus, the only way to correct the vision is by using the rigid lens. Rigid lenses do not have to be replaced as often as the soft lens.

The first rigid lenses were not as comfortable to wear and did not allow enough oxygen to pass through the lens but the new plastic material used in the making of modern lenses is very permeable to oxygen and allow a very adequate flow of oxygen to reach the eye. This type of lens is commonly known as “rigid gas permeable” or “RGP” lenses for short.

Thank you for joining us here at Contact Lenses Australia Now for this post on lens type. It’s imperative that you understand these differences before shopping! Please join us for subsequent posts or browse our set of previous posts on owning contact lenses.

Hello and welcome back to Contact Lenses Australia Now, the Australians’ one stop internet portal for information about contact lenses. Today we would like to discuss the always important topic of how to properly care for your contacts once you have purchased them.

Proper care of contact lenses is essential to the health of your eyes. Serious eye infections can result from improper cleaning of lenses. Most problems with contact lenses come from not cleaning and disinfecting them. Lenses must be cleaned and disinfected each time you wear them.

Deposits build up in the contact lens while you are wearing them. It is essential that you clean your lenses each time you remove them to prevent these deposits from building up. Proteins and lipids from your tears make up the deposits and these proteins and lipids allow microorganisms to cling to the lenses causing your contacts to feel very uncomfortable and can lead to eye infection.

Special cleaning solutions have been developed for contact lenses. There are solutions available for all types of contact lenses. These solutions are easy to use. After using the correct cleaning solution simply rinse with a sterile saline solution.

Cleaning your contact lenses is not enough to keep infection from occuring. You still need to make sure you use a disinfectant to make sure all bacteria and other mircoorganisms have been elimanated. If you fail to disinfect the lens properly, these tiny organisms can get into your eye the next time you wear your contacts.

Check with your eye doctor before changing disinfection systems. There are many different systems available but only a proffessional will be able to tell you which disinfecting solution is right for your particular type of contact lens. Some systems may not be compatible and this could result in damage to you lenses or your eyes.

Thank you for joining Contact Lenses Australia Now for this latest post, and always make sure to take care of your contacts!

In this post, we here at Contact Lenses Australia Now would like to remark on the increasing popularity of contact lenses.

Contact Lenses are becoming more and more popular. Online purchase of contact lenses is growing rapidly. Some people are wearing them strictly for cosmetic reasons. Now, you can have the color eyes you have always wanted by purchasing tinted lenses. People with vision problems often buy them not only to correct vision, but also for the comfort and convenience contact lenses offer.

Even if you have 20/20 vision and are just buying contacts for cosmetic reasons you need to consult an optician. Even though availability of contact lenses has become wide spread there are many questions that you will want to know the answers to. We normally think of seeing an eyecare professional only if we feel we have a problem with our vision but you should always consult with a professional before purchasing contacts for any reason. They are the best person to address any questions and concerns that you might have. They will discuss your vision problems if any and also your lifestyle.

One of the biggest problems new users of contact lenses is how to put them in the eye.You want to make sure you do not put them inside out. If you should slip up and put the contact lens in backwards it will irritate your eye almost immediately so there is no need to worry about any damage to your eye if you should make this mistake. There is a way to make sure you have the lens facing right side out. If you place the contact lens on the tip of your index finger it should form the shape of a cup. Keep the lens placed firmly this way. Hold your index finger in a straight line in front of your eyes so that you are looking at the side of the cup. If the edges of the lens are flared out at the top edge and form a “u” shape the lenses are inside out. If the lens is forming a “u” shape with no flare at the edge it is facing the right way. Some contact lenses have laser markings on them. These markings are the brand name of the contact lenses and are put on the edge of the contact to help you tell if they are inside out. Always check to see if the contacts have these laser markings as this is the easiest way to tell which way the contacts are facing.

So if you thinkyou are the only Australian newly interested in contact lenses, we here at Contact Lenses Australia Now must take exception! I hope you enjoyed this post. Please browse the rest of our posts and deals to learn more about the opportunity to purchase contact lenses in Australia.

We here at Contact Lenses Australia Now understand that there are many reasons to own contacts. One of these reasons is to look attractive or “cool”. Crazy contact lenses fit the bill.

“Crazy Contact Lenses” have become a huge fad all over the world. Join the craziness and you will be the center of attention at the next party you attend. How about jazzing up that Halloween costume with some crazy contact lenses. Cosmetic lenses can be a great way to add a little fun to your life.

There are virtually hundreds of different colors and designs to choose from. These lenses will definitely make you stand apart from everyone else in the crowd. If you like to be noticed or want to start getting noticed these new crazy lenses could be just the thing you are looking for.

Professional people from all over, including famous rock stars are tuning into these great lenses to change the appearance of their eyes.

Some people have even started wearing two different color lenses at one time. This has become the newest craze in the crazy contact lens wearing. Music videos have used this idea very successfully too. You can have one green eye and blue or even have a kitty in one eye. There is an endless array of fun you can have with these lenses.

“Crazy Contact Lenses” are really quite reasonable. They cost under $100AU (Australian Dollars). These lenses can last up to three months depending on the type you buy. The more you wear them the better the value of course.

Remember you still need to follow the same safety precautions you would take with regular lenses. Make sure you clean and disinfect them after each wearing to prevent eye infection or other serious complications.

You will still need to see your optometrist before purchasing cosmetic lenses. He can advise you on which brands of the cosmetic lenses offer the best quality. You do not want to risk buying a poor quality lens and damaging your eyes. Never sleep in these lenses and do not let your friends wear them. Check the expiration date and do not wear them after it expires.

Another thing to remember is cosmetic lenses do not improve eyesight. They are strictly for cosmetic purposes. If you wear contacts to correct eye sight make sure you consult with your optometrist before wearing these lenses.

Wearing contact lenses may help in attracting the opposite sex but make sure you follow the above advise and see your eyecare professional before purchasing any cosmetic lens.

Thanks for joining the group at Contact Lenses Australia Now on the topic of specialty contacts. Please join us for other posts, or read our previous articles!

Welcome back to Contact Lenses Australia Now. Today we discuss the importance of having an eye exam before purchasing your contact lenses.

It is very important to visit an optometrist and get an eye examination before purchasing contact lenses. Contact lenses are more complicated then the reading glasses you purchase at a retail store. Contacts must fit the eye properly to prevent injury to the eye surface. If the lens does not fit properly blinking of the eye can cause the lens to dislodge and cause injury. Proper fitting also prevents any bad reaction from the eye and the immune system.

Your optometrist will give you a thorough eye exam before prescribing your contact lenses. These exams will let the professional know exactly what your vision problem is by measuring any refractive errors that are present. Your eye doctor will also take a few measurement of your eye to determine the curvature of the surface of your eye. He or she will ask you some questions about your lifestyle. By doing all these measurements and finding out about your lifestyle the doctor can determine what type of lens will be best suited for you.

The doctor will first place a set of trial lenses in your eyes to determine the exact fit you will need. Sometimes several different trial sets of lenses will be needed before the proper fit can be determined. Once the doctor finds the proper fit a presciption can be placed and your lenses can be ordered.
After the proper fit has been determined the optometrist will give you a preliminary set of lenses. He or she will show you how to apply and remove the lenses from your eyes properly. You will also learn the correct way to clean and maintain the lenses. You will generally wear your new lenses for a week or two weeks at the most to make sure they fit correctly and are addressing your sight problem. Sometimes, the prescription and the lens may have to be changed slightly to correct any problems visually or comfort wise.

Eye exams are an important part of wearing contact lenses. Eye infections can develop quickly when you wear contacts because they fit directly on the eye surface. The eye surface is easily subject to infection. Even regular cleaning and disinfecting will not always be enough to prevent an eye infection. Serious complications such as blindness are quite rare but a regular eye exam will insure that you don’t suffer any type of eye damage.

Welcome back to Contact Lenses Australia Now, where we aim to discuss both issues and deals relevant to owning contact lenses in general, and for Australians in specific.

There are three main categories concerning costs related to contact lenses. The consultation fee is the first cost involved. The actual cost of the lens and maintenance costs also need to be considered when purchasing contact lenses.

Eyecare professionals charge consultation fees. These services are sometimes covered by Medicare but many times are not.

All Australians are provided benefits for the initial eye exam under Medicare, however there are some limitations. Full benefits are paid to an optometrist for an eye exam every two years. Medicare will pay more frequently if they feel the exam is clinically justified.
Medicare will pay a reduced benefit if the patient seeks a second opinion during that two year period. No reduction will occur if the second opinion was referred by the previous doctor.

Not all Australians are eligible for contact lenses. Medicare will pay for the consultation fee for those people who meet their clinical criteria for contact lenses. Medicare has a total of nine criteria and the patient must meet at least one of the nine criteria before Medicare will cover the costs. Medicare has made this criteria to prevent people from using this insurance for cosmetic or sports reasons and not clinical reasons.

Anyone who is not eligible for Medicare will have to pay the eyecare professional’s consultation fee. Consultations fees vary from doctor to doctor so anyone who is thinking about getting contacts should make sure they discuss the cost of consultation with their optometrist.

The cost of the contact lenses will depend on many factors. Soft spherical lenses can run anywhere from One Hundred and Fifty Dollars to Four Hundred Dollars. The cost of manufacturing due to the complex techniques involved in soft toric lenses and rigid lenses is much higher. Tinting is another factor that can raise the cost of contact lenses.

The annual cost of frequent replacement lenses and conventional lenses is actually about the same. Even though the initial cost of replaceable lenses is less, they need to replaced more often then the conventional ones.

Contact lenses come with a warranty which allows them to be replaced if done so within a fixed period of time. The warranty is very helpful should you have to change the design of the lens. If a patient discovers he can simply not wear contact lenses, some warrantees allow for a full refund.

Maintenance is an ongoing cost with all types of contact lenses. The purchase of cleaning and disinfecting solutions is needed for soft and rigid lenses.
